This past week, Mary and I were in Athens for the United Methodist Church's annual North Georgia Conference.

We were among approximately 3000 Methodists who "invaded" the Classic City for the entire week, gathering to vote on church-related issues, plus enjoying a lot of good Christian fellowship and powerful messages.

When we weren't in the business or worship sessions, we traveled around Athens-Clarke County to do some "roadgeeking". As a result, I got a few new sign pics, and even a "ROADGEEK-CAM!!!" of part of the Athens Perimeter (GA 10 Loop/422). On the way home this afternoon, I even shot some footage of US 29/GA 316 westbound in Barrow County.

On Wednesday afternoon after the conference adjourned for the evening, we went down the Atlanta Highway (US 78 Business/GA 10) to the Logan's Roadhouse for dinner. At that particular location, I took a picture of the overhead assurance marker signs...

Q1: Which of the above signs does not belong?

A1: The "US 29 South" does not belong there. In 1995, when GA 316 (University Parkway) was finally completed to its end at the Athens Perimeter in Oconee County, US 29/GA 8 were rerouted onto 316 and the southern/eastern portion of the Perimeter.

Q2: What is wrong with the "GA 10 Loop North" sign?

A2: GA 10 Loop is not signed as "North" and "South", but instead, it is signed "Inner" and "Outer". The above sign should say "Inner". (NOTE: The same mistake was spotted on US 129/GA 15 Alt and Epps Bridge Parkway.)

At the Classic Center, I found this roadsign inside one of the service corridors...

Yesterday (June 14th) marked our 4th wedding anniversary, and since we were in Athens, we celebrated by again going to The Varsity... and boy did we enjoy those wonderful, wonderful, greasy, greasy dogs and rings, washed down with a Frosty Orange ("F.O." in Varsity-speak).

In the near future, I plan to put together a special feature page with my Athens road and landmark pictures. Once it's completed, I'll definitely let y'all know.

Oh, one more thing... I have now created a "Roadgeek Jukebox" on Project Playlist... and it includes Athens's own B-52s singing "Love Shack" (... I'm headin' down the Atlanta Highway...) . Please click here to access it.

Well, folks, that's it for now. Thanks for reading and visiting, and please come back again.
