Is GDOT's incoming new comissioner a roadgeek? This morning, I read a very interesting article on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution website about the Georgia DOT's incoming new commissioner,
Dr. Gena Abraham.
Dr. Abraham, who is no stranger to Georgia State Government, will be the first woman to head GDOT... and from what I have read, she may have grown up as sort of a "roadgeek" herself.

Congratulations to Dr. Abraham on her appointment and may she have a productive and fruitful reign.
Goin' To Chattanooga
Since Mary and I are heading out the door tomorrow morning for a weekend in Chattanooga, I am posting my blog a little earlier than usual.
Mary's sister Polly's daughters, Jennifer and Ashley, will be up there for a rowing competition and we will be there with Polly to cheer them on. Since they all live in Orlando, we usually don't get to see them outside of Florida, so this is a very rare treat for both of us. I wish "Jenn" and "Ash" the best and look forward to seeing them compete.
Roadgeek-wise, here are my
primary goals...
- Clinch "unsigned I-124".
- Clinch I-24 in Tennessee from the Georgia State Line to I-75.
- Clinch I-24 in Georgia.
- Clinch Marion County, Tennessee.
- Clinch the rest of I-59 in Georgia. (I have driven the stretch from the Alabama line to GA 136, but need to get the rest of I-59's Georgia segment.)
If time allows, here are my
secondary "roadgeek goals"...
- Visit the Camak Stone that marks the exact point where Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee state lines meet. (BTW, there was a nice editorial in the AJC regarding the history of this marker and how Georgia could have had part of the Tennessee River within its borders.)
- Clinch Jackson County, Alabama (Alabama's northeasternmost county).- Shoot some "ROADGEEK-CAM!!!" video in Tennessee.Tennessee County Highway Maps Online
I found that
Tennessee DOT (TDOT) has PDFs of county highway maps online just as Georgia does. For TDOT's county maps,

And last, but not least...
"R-Dub" Does "Roadgeek Videos"Colorado roadgeek blogger Ryan (a.k.a. "R-Dub") of
Ryan's Digital Roadgeekdom has now entered the wonderful world of "roadgeek videos".
Please click here to see them.
Congratulations, Ryan, and I look forward to seeing more.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading and please come back again.
P.S. Thanks always to my lovely wife Mary for supporting my "roadgeeking". I love you, babe!
