Brooks County Clinched!!!

After 10 1/2 hours on the road from Lakeland, Florida, to "Georgia Road Geek HQ", Mary and I are happy to be back home!!!

After eating lunch in Valdosta, we stopped at Exit 29 (GA 122/US 41 North/Hahira/Barney) to fill up the gas tank at a BP.
While I was there, I noticed that it was only 4 miles to the Lowndes/Brooks County Line, and since I have not "clinched" Brooks County, we made a quick sidetrip to do so. Here's my updated Georgia county map from
Mob-Rule.com...

At that particular county line, I noticed that there were 2 new bridges being built over Little River that separates Brooks and Lowndes Counties. One looked completed and the other looked about halfway built. If any of you have any info on these new bridges, then please feel free to share it with me at
webmaster at georgiaroadgeek dot com.
On I-75 in Florida, just south of Exit 414, I noticed that the Florida DOT has constructed a diagonal "cutover" for northbound hurricane evacuation contraflow traffic to transition back into the northbound lanes of the highway. One thing that I-75 does not have is gates similar to those GDOT installed on exit ramps along the I-16 hurricane evacuation route section. Otherwise, I would have to assume that FDOT would have law enforcement officers blocking each southbound on-ramp to keep such traffic from interfering with the emergency contraflow.
BTW, here's my updated Florida county map...
As promised in the last blog, I will produce my new Florida "ROADGEEK-CAM!!!" footage and upload it for y'all soon.
