This afternoon, I spent a wonderful time with a dozen fellow roadgeeks here in the Atlanta area during the Atlanta 2008 Roadmeet Adam Prince organized.

We had participants from Georgia, Michigan, New York, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Our first stop was at the Roadhouse Grill, where had a wondeful "meet and greet" over lunch.

Brian Reynolds brought Michigan maps, Jason Ilyes brought Tennessee maps, H.B. Elkins brought Kentucky maps, Doug Kerr brought I-87 Motorist Assistance Maps from New York (which had "SEND HELP" on one side of it), and I brought Georgia maps and official Georgia Road Geek magnets. Thanks to all these folks for their "goodies".

After lunch, we headed out to see the I-85/GA 316 construction from 2 different vantage points along Boggs Road and Old Norcross Road. Being the roadgeeks that we are, we were a "roadgeek paparazzi" as we snapped tons and tons of photos of the construction.

Originally, that was going to be it, but we had some folks who wanted to take photos of "Spaghetti Junction" (I-85/285 interchange) in DeKalb County. Jim K. Georges (a.k.a. "Freewayjim") led the way and we followed him to a point on Pleasantdale Road that had great views of this monolithic stack interchange.

During the whole time, Joe Babyak and I shot video and we plan to use the clips for a future documentary on the Atlanta 2008 Roadmeet. I just got through reviewing my clips and look forward to seeing Joe's. Hopefully, we will have this edited, produced, and pubished soon.

Adam and the folks at Gribble Nation will have a webpage up soon for this event and I look forward to seeing it.

Finally, thanks to all the roadgeeks who traveled from near and far (mostly far) for attending the meet, and for the fun and fellowship I really enjoyed as I got to know them in person. Folks, if you like roads and never been to a roadmeet, then you don't know what you're missing.

Now, I spend the rest of the weekend chillin' with my wife. Thanks, y'all, for reading and please visit often.

      Hi Steve,
It was good to meet you and myself and my wife and Seth Dunn had a good time and looking forward to seeing your video. I also heard your interviews with Adam and Billy a few weeks back and they were pretty cool to listen to, anytime you want to do more interviews just let me know.

As I told my wife on the phone as I got ready to pull out of the Roadhouse Grill parking lot after the meet, I had waaaaay too much fun.

This was a very enjoyable trip, it was great to meet you and the others I'd never met and to reconnect with old friends from previous meets, and see a city I hadn't been in for 30 years. Adam mentioned doing this on an annual basis and I'd be all for that!

      Hi Steve,

It was great to meet you and everyone else at the road meet, what a great bunch of folks!

I am certainly looking forward to seeing the documentary when it's done.

I hope this does become an annual thing, I already have a couple of ideas/vantage points in mind.

Hello folks, Sorry about the delay - just working hard. I really had a lot of fun at the meet! I can't wait for the next one (ironically today is the Long Island meet which I am not able to attend due to work). All my best to you all and I hope to see all of you soon.
