According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Georgia DOT is planning to replace all the existing HOV exit signs.

Please click here to read all about it.

I found it interesting that GDOT said that even though the current HOV signs are "clear and met national standards", they would be doing the replacements "probably next year". That being said by GDOT, I hope that they have their sign designers working on some ideas that are up to the new Federal Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards. For an example of the MUTCD HOV standards, please click here.

Thanks to John Mayson, a regular misc.transport.road (MTR) newsgroup poster, for finding the article.

If I read of any further info regarding GDOT's HOV sign replacement, then I'll be happy to share it with you. In the meantime, if you have any news on this subject, then please feel free to share it with me as well.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading and please come back again.

Some of those HOV exits sneak up on you: there isn't always significant warning for HOV exits. It's unfortunate that something like this had to initiate a change in overhead street signage.
