GDOT Response To My 2008 Roadmap Review

Just the other day, I received a letter in the postal mail from Georgia DOT regarding my recent review of the 2008 Official Georgia Highway Map.

Of the 3 discrepancies I found, GDOT will be correcting 2 of them for next year's (2009) official roadmap.

The depiction of I-520 (Bobby Jones Expressway/Palmetto Parkway) will remain "as is" until South Carolina DOT completes its portion of I-520 to I-20 in Aiken County. GDOT provided me a copy of a 2002 memo they received from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regarding the extension of I-520 in Augusta.

I have scanned the documents into Microsoft Word and uploaded the file to my website. Sorry, but I don't have software to create them as PDFs.

Please click here to see the correspondence and FHWA memo.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading and please come back often.

I have a question on I-520. If it is supposed to connect up with I-20 in Aiken Co. SC then it would be a complete loop, should'nt the first digit be even? I doubt the DOT will change that, plus can you imagine how many I-420 signs would be stolen? LOL
