Classic DeKalb County Street Signs

Recently, I thought about the old black-and-white style of street sign DeKalb County used to erect prior to around 1990. Here are a couple of pictures I took today...

The current style of DeKalb street signs is now white lettering on a somewhat larger green sign, with the street or road name in freeway-style font and the designation (DR, ST, etc.) in all caps.

Since the pre-1990's street signs are becoming harder and harder to find around DeKalb, I thought it would be a good idea to document as many as I can for posterity. In fact, I may even make a special feature page similar to what John Krakoff and I did with Georgia's County Route Signs. In fact, John's photos of Douglas County signs as featured on Gribble Nation had inspired me in recent times to document these old DeKalb street signs.

Around Chamblee, I've noticed that there is yet another change, with both the street or road name and designation in all-caps and in a somewhat skinnier font. I've seen at least 2 of them so far, one on Clairmont Road and the other on Chamblee-Tucker Road at Peachtree Road near the new Chamblee Village Wal-Mart.

It's been a long day and I'm getting tired, so that's it for now. Thanks always for reading my blogs, watching my videos, and listening to my talkshow. Please come back again for more.
