This afternoon, a reader sent me an e-mail regarding what looked like a sidewalk being built on I-85, based on his observations as he was traveling from the Mall of Georgia to Lanier Speedway.
I responded to him that the "sidewalks" were actually the foundation for a new set of cable barriers that GDOT was installing on the grassy median. His response was that it "seemed like an odd place for a nature trail... LOL".
You know, it would be sort of hilarious if GDOT decided to make a "nature trail" in the middle of an Interstate, but I guess we'll just have to settle instead for the I-185 Scenic Byway for our high-speed communes with Mother Nature.
According to a GDOT press release, the cable barriers are being installed on the stretch of I-85 between GA 20 (Exit 115) and the Banks/Franklin County line. The $6,500,000 project should be completed by April 30, 2009.
And finally, Lisa (a.k.a. "elementaryhistoryteacher") has published the 41st edition of the Georgia Blog Carnival on her "Georgia On My Mind" blog, featuring a plethora of new blogs from around Georgia, including my I-75/I-475 reconstruction blog from last week. Thanks, Lisa, for all your support, and BTW, I enjoyed the wedding pics you recently posted on your blog. Congrats to you and your husband for 24 years of wedded bliss.
Speaking of "wedded bliss", I gotta get off my butt and do my household "trash duty".
That's it for now. Thanks for reading, have a great weekend, and please come back again.
