Just the other day on my way home from my "real job", I talked to my ham radio friend Sophia on the Atlanta Radio Club's 146.82 MHz repeater and, somehow, roads got involved as we briefly talked about the changes to the I-85/GA 316 interchange in Gwinnett County.
You've heard of Atlanta's infamous "Spaghetti Junction" (I-85/I-285 interchange in Northeast Atlanta)? Well, folks, just up the road in Gwinnett County, may I introduce to you the new I-85/GA 316 interchange complex's newest monkier (drum roll, please)....
LINGUINI JUNCTION!!!
Officially, this particular interchange is known as the Wayne Shackelford Interchange, which I dubbed the "Shack Stack", so I guess we now have at least 2 nicknames for it.
Being that the "Shack Stack" is where you get off I-85 to go to Athens, perhaps the B-52s could sing "Shack Stack, baby Shack Stack (I'm headed down University Parkway)...". Hey, "Weird Al" or "Cledus T.", are y'all listening here?
And now, for all you roadgeek sign lovers out there, here's one of the 2 new big brown signs on US 19/GA 400 in Alpharetta...
... and finally, another "roadgeek tune" by The Eagles...
That's it for now. Thanks to Sophia for renaming the I-85/GA 316 interchange and to y'all for reading. Please come back often.
