Hey, y'all! I made it to Knoxville!!!

Roadgeek-wise, and nostalgia-wise, it was a great day.

I now have I-140, I-275, and I-640 "clinched", added more I-40 westbound mileage (traveling from I-75 to Exit 360)... and "clinched" Roane County, Tennessee, in the process.

After "clinching" I-275, I headed up I-75 to Exit 108, where I've stopped for the night. My hotel is just on the other side of I-75 from the roadgeek "meet-and-greet" location, the Quaker Steak and Lube, so it shouldn't take me too long at all to get there.

Nostalgia-wise, I stopped by the townhouse where we lived from 1969 until 1972, when we moved back to Atlanta, and after "clinching" I-640, I went into Downtown Knoxville and found my old elementary school, Fort Sanders, plus the hospital where my brother, Chris, was born. I snapped some photos which I'll be sharing with family and, at some point, post them to my photo gallery.

Traffic on I-640 eastbound was "bumper-to-bumper" this afternoon and did not ease up until about a couple of miles east of the I-75/I-275/US 25W interchange. This had to be both a combination of the normal I-640 volume, plus eastbound traffic using this "Detour I-40" route to get around the SmartFix40 construction.

During my travels, I managed to shoot a good bit of new video for future "ROADGEEK-CAM!!!" episodes and I will get them produced and uploaded ASAP for y'all to see.

Finally, thanks to fellow roadgeek Seth Dunn for calling me just as I got off I-75 and for meeting me for dinner at the Cracker Barrel (a GRG-approved eatery). We had a great time talking about roads and what we've "clinched" as of today and are looking forward to tomorrow's roadmeet.

Well, folks, I'm going to check my e-mails and then head back to the room and call it a day. Thanks for reading and please visit often.
