Steve standing in westbound lanes of I-40 at SmartFix40 construction site.

Just a couple of hours ago, I got back to GRG HQ (home) from Knoxville.

This morning around 9 AM, I checked out of the hotel and decided to do a little more "roadgeeking" along I-75.

As a result, I got more miles of I-75 (up to Exit 134) and "clinched" Anderson and Campbell Counties.

The scenery up I-75 was so gorgeous that I just had to shoot some more video for "ROADGEEK-CAM!!!"... and I did.

After that jaunt, I headed back to Downtown Knoxville and just drove around the University of Tennessee campus and some of the SmartFix40 construction area before meeting the gang at the Quaker Steak and Lube for lunch.

After a great "meet-and-greet" over lunch, we all drove to the SmartFix40 project office to meet our tour guide, Travis Brickley of the Tennessee DOT (TDOT).

Travis Brickley of Tennessee DOT gives a presentation on SmartFix40 to the roadgeeks in attendance.

After a brief presentation on SmartFix40 by Mr. Brickley, we all piled into a TDOT van and were driven to several places within the construction zone. This was a rare chance to stand on what will again be a busy Interstate highway and we all savored this moment with pictures and videos. I got a good bit of video footage on the camcorder and I hope to have a documentary produced soon.

Thanks again to Billy Riddle for coordinating this event and to Mr. Brickley and TDOT for giving us an up-close-and-personal tour of the SmartFix40 construction site.

And here's the final photo for tonight...

And finally, here's a brand new "ROADGEEK-CAM!!!" of I-275 northbound in Knoxville. Please click here to watch.

That's it for now. I've had a great couple of days of "roadgeeking", but I'm tired and I'm headed to bed. Thanks for reading and watching, and please come back again.
