This road, essentially a southern/eastern by-pass of Savannah's historic downtown district, begins at Whitefield Avenue and ends at President Street, just west of the Islands Expressway (formerly "Toll US 80").
Truman Parkway was built in 4 phases, the 4th phase being completed in 2005. The fifth and final phase will extend the Truman Parkway from Whitefield Avenue across the Vernon River to Abercorn Street Extension (GA 204). Here is a rough estimate of this route as I see it...
According to a December 6, 2008, article in the Savannah Morning News, this final phase was slated to begin in 2010, but due to the lack of state funds at the time, construction on this final 2 mile (3.2 km) segment would not begin until 2014 at the earliest.
Pending Governor Sonny Perdue's approval of the GDOT Eligible Stimulus Projects list, this "shovel-ready" project, among others, may perhaps begin within the year.
Once the Truman Parkway is completed as planned, it will give I-95 travelers coming from Brunswick, Jacksonville, and points south a
much faster route to Tybee Island without having to go through the
historic downtown.
On the aforementioned GDOT list, which is broken down by county, the US 411 Connector is missing. My assumption is that it is not considered "shovel-ready" since GDOT has yet to purchase the right-of-way land.
Later this year, Mary and I hope to revisit coastal Georgia. While I'm down there, I'd like to "clinch" a few more southeast Georgia counties, "clinch" the rest of I-95 in Georgia, and "clinch" I-516 (Lynes Parkway). If we do make it down there, I'd like to drive the Truman Parkway and see if any construction on the last leg has begun. After all, I am a "roadgeek" and I do love driving on the ROADS!!!
That's it for now. Thanks for reading and please come back often.

Hey, Steve. Thanks for the update. I thought that Truman Pkwy. was finished. I traveled down there last year, but that was before I started recording videos. I'll have to travel those aforementioned highways again sometime. Reply to this
