Inspired by my desire to drive more Interstates, "clinch" more counties, and even mix in another hobby of mine, I am in the process of planning a brief roadtrip for next weekend. Tenatively, I have dubbed it "Operation R3".
This morning, I put my truck into the shop for its 3000-mile oil change, tire balance/rotation, and a "checkup". All systems are now a "go" for the truck.
While the truck was in the shop, I went to a coffee shop next door for some lunch and free wi-fi. The latter was desired so that I could crank up the netbook and do some surfing, e-mail checking, and virus software and Windows updating in preparation for "Operation R3".
During the trip, I also hope to shoot some more new footage for "ROADGEEK-CAM!!!" in an area where I haven't been since I was 12 years old.
A few of my friends have been told where "Operation R3" will be going, so if you do know, then please don't tell.
Here at GRG HQ, I have broken out the roadmaps and have come up with an initial strategy to maximize my Interstate and county goals within the affected region.
Several fellow "roadgeeks", including (but not limited to) "FreewayJim" Georges, H.B. Elkins, and Adam Prince, have been major influences, as I always enjoy their "roadtrip diaries" of words, photos, and videos. Ever since I discovered other like-minded road enthusiasts 11 years ago via the Internet, the various journeys, stories, and reports I have read (especially in the last 4 years) only make me want to "roadtrip" and "roadgeek" in as many new places as possible. Having been to 2 "roadmeets" (Atlanta and Knoxville) over the past year-and-a-half), I have had the honor of meeting face-to-face with so many folks, thus putting a human face on the "roadgeek" hobby. Being able to take the hobby to another level (blogs, videos, and even my own talkshow) brings me such joy that I never would've imagined.
Most important of all, I thank you, the readers, viewers, and listeners, "roadgeek" or not, who have read my blogs, watched "ROADGEEK-CAM!!!", and listened to "GRG On BTR".
That's it for now. Thank you for visiting and please stay tuned for more "Operation R3" info.
