Yesterday, Mary and I went up to the Braselton area to attend a friend's wedding and decided to make a short "daytrip" out of it.
Braselton and Hoschton, whose downtown areas are in western Jackson County, actually have extended their respective city boundaries into multiple counties.
Braselton, which includes Chateau Elan and was once owned by actress Kim Basinger (an Athens native), has annexed land along the GA 124, GA 211, and I-85 corridors. Their city limits includes land in not only Jackson County, but also parts of extreme northwest Barrow, northeast Gwinnett, and the part of the southeastern corner of Hall County.
Hoschton's city limits includes land in parts of Barrow and Gwinnett, as well as Jackson County. As far as I know, these two Georgia cities are the only ones within the state that include land in more than 2 counties.
Being a sort-of "railfan" and "history buff" as well as a roadgeek, I was quite intrigued by this old train depot in Hoschton (though the tracks have been gone for over 60 years)...
The bronze plaque located to the left of the door commemorates the depot's addition to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. Here's a closeup of the plaque...
... and here's the historical marker for the depot...

Acworth claims land in Cobb, Bartow and Cherokee counties. I used to think Acworth was the only city that had that distinction. Reply to this
