Forgive me for stating the obvious, my dear readers, but I just had to exclaim how gas prices SUCK!!!

My "inner Beavis" wants to beat on the drum mercilessly and start yelling that "they don't just suck... THEY REALLY SUCK!!!"

Today, as my wife and I were headed down US 19/GA 400 from the outlet mall in Dawson County, we were talking about that subject and how I will likely scrap one planned roadtrip due to the fact GAS PRICES SUCK!!!

Did I tell you yet how much I think gas prices really suck?!!!

What about that trip I've considered? If I were to do that trip, it would involve "clinching" I-75 in 2 more states (Tennessee and Kentucky) plus most of I-75 in Ohio.. not to mention the boatload of Kentucky and Ohio counties that would come with this trip, which would be to Dayton, Ohio, for the world-famous Dayton Hamvention, the "big kahuna" of amateur (ham) radio gatherings. I've got the hotel reservations (just in case I could go), but I'm leaning toward cancelling that reservation and calling it "a wash"... all thanks to those folks who have been speculating on the price of crude oil and raising the per-barrel cost to god-awful heights. I'm not against anyone making a buck, but for Pete's sake, I don't like the idea that someone is exploiting world events for the sake of making that extra buck... all at the average American driver's expense.

As far as roadtrips go, Mary and I do have one big roadtrip in mind for this summer (Mary, if you read this blog, sweetie, please don't tell anyone. I like to keep it a secret). If it goes off as planned, I will be getting more Interstate miles and several more "clinched" counties as a result.

Do you have any roadtrips in mind? How has the gas price issue factored (or not) into your own plans? Please feel free to post your comments and let us know.

And now, it's time to get down from the "soapbox" and enjoy the rest of the evening here at GRG HQ. For more "road news' from around Georgia, please check out (and "LIke") our Facebook page. So far, 80 "Facebookers" have "liked" it and we appreciate them as well as all future "likers".

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
